President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky took part in the meeting of the Seven Group G7. In his speech, the head of state noted that he was counting on support not only in Europe but also in the United States, the President said on February 24.

“Productive meeting, important fundamental words from most partners. We are very intended for the unity of the world – Europe, America, all parts of the world and peoples seeking to live in peace and on the basis of predictable rules, on the basis of international law, ”the message reads.

According to him, peace should be based on security guarantees for Ukraine.

“It is important that we work together so that during negotiations with Russia, the most powerful defenders of freedom sat at the table – America, Europe and Ukraine. It is possible to conclude a real agreement to not just stop the murder now, but to prevent the deaths of thousands of our people who are now in Russian prisons, as well as in the occupied territories, ”Zelensky stressed.

The President stated that Ukraine and the US are working on an economic agreement productively. He also repeated that if Ukraine remains outside NATO, it will be a much more expensive and more complicated way for everyone, “because NATO gives the simplest and most favorable security guarantees.”

Zelensky also stressed that it is important for Ukraine to know whether the US will continue to support Ukraine.

G7 leaders held an online meeting chaired by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. He joined the meeting from Kiev. The meeting was also joined by US President Donald Trump from Washington.

The day before, Bloomberg reported that the Seven Group has softened the initial version of the communique dedicated to the three -year of a full -scale invasion of Russia into Ukraine. Among other things, the communicke project has already deleted the mention of the Atlantic integration of Ukraine, the “illegality” of the Russian invasion and the instructions to limit the marginal prices for Russian oil.

The original version called for peace because of “strong security guarantees for Ukraine, with troops and resources on the ground, combined with reliable international supervision to monitor the agreed lines.” This wording was greatly softened, leaving only “strong security guarantees and integration of Ukraine into the EU”.

According to the diplomats with whom Bloomberg spoke, the Seven Group continues to work on the document – and further changes are possible.

According to the publication, the difficulties of reconciling the document arose against the backdrop of US President Donald Trump’s negotiations with Russia to end the war – without Ukraine and Europe.
