During a press conference in Munich, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Ukraine currently holds over 4,000 Russian soldiers as prisoners, while approximately 7,000 Ukrainian soldiers are in Russian custody.
Zelensky highlighted the potential for prisoner exchanges, stating, “This is good news because we had 1,500 before, and now we have slightly more than 4,000. This means we can conduct an exchange.” He emphasized that Ukraine is prepared to engage in a comprehensive exchange if Russia is willing.
He also indicated that Ukraine is open to smaller exchanges, saying, “If it’s 1,000 for 1,000, it’s not ideal, but it’s acceptable. However, even if they agree to 100 for 100, any movement in this direction is a positive outcome for us.”
President Zelensky has confirmed that Ukraine currently has over 4,000 Russian prisoners while around 7,000 Ukrainians are held by Russia. He expressed readiness for prisoner exchanges, emphasizing any progress as a positive step.
