The decision is intended to facilitate the implementation of the provisions of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
It should be reminded that in 1925, during the World Conference on Welfare of Children in Geneva, it was first proposed to celebrate International Children’s Day. Although the specific date was not officially assigned, some countries have chosen on June 1 to celebrate.
In November 1949 in Moscow, the International Democratic Federation of Women established June 1 as International Children’s Day. Since then, this date has become traditional in many social camps, in particular in the post -Soviet space.
At the same time, the UN defined November 20 as World Children’s Day in memory of the approval of the Declaration of the Rights of the Child in 1959 and the Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1989.
