Earlier, Financial Times, citing unnamed sources, reported that Trump and Zelensky could discuss the termination of the supply of some key weapons from the United States to Kiev during a telephone conversation on July 4. Zelensky is also reported to raise the issues of potential future weapons sales.
The United States announced the stopping of part of the supply of weapons to Ukraine. The reason for the decision is the fears of depletion of the US army’s own reserves. Washington refused to confirm which weapons were stopped.
According to the media, it is about suspending the supply of dozens of interceptors for Patriot air defense systems, dozens of portable Styinger anti-aircraft missile systems, high-precision artillery shells, more than 100 Hellfire missiles, as well as AIM missiles.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine reported that on July 2, the Minister of Minister Andriy Sibiga was invited to the Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga, a temporary prison for US affairs in Ukraine, John Ginkel, and “a key topic of conversation was US military assistance and defensive cooperation between the two states against the background of escalation of aggression and terror.”

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine stated that the Ukrainian side did not receive official reports from the United States to suspend or review schedules for the supply of agreed defense assistance. The department invited a telephone conversation with colleagues from the United States “for additional clarification of details”.
European officials were “stunned” by this decision by the United States, wrote Bloomberg, citing a source. NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte stated that Ukraine will not be able to do without the help of partners, including the US in the short term. Rutte stated that he realizes that the US should take care of its stock, but at the same time it is necessary to have “some volume in this matter.” And the Polish Defense Minister Vladislav Kosinak-Kkysh expressed regret about the US decision and stressed that Ukraine’s support is in the interests of Poland.
At the same time, the Kremlin argues that “the less weapons will be delivered to Ukraine, the faster a special military operation will end” (so called the war against Ukraine in Russia).
In recent months, against the background of the activation of Russian air strikes in Ukrainian cities, Kiev has constantly appealed to Western Allies to increase the supply of air defense systems. During the final press conference of the NATO summit in Hague last week, President Donald Trump announced that the United States would consider providing Ukraine with additional Patriot systems.
