On December 10 and 11, 2025, an informal meeting of the Council of the European Union on general issues was held in Lviv, during which further steps regarding Ukraine’s accession to the European Union were discussed.
As a result of this meeting, a joint statement of Ukraine and the EU was published, in which, among other things, it is noted that the implementation of the anti-corruption policy and the rule of law policy should be carried out within the framework of the EU accession process, in particular through the implementation of the road map regarding the rule of law. It was also mentioned that Ukraine should reform the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) within the next year.
