Prehistory:
- On June 16, Zelensky submitted a submission to the Verkhovna Rada on the appointment of Kravchenko to the position of Prosecutor General.
- The submission to the Prosecutor General was not submitted to the Parliament for more than half a year – from the moment when in October 2024, MPs voted for the resignation of Andrei Kostin. During this time, his duties were performed by the first deputy Alexei Khomenko.
- On the morning of June 17, the People’s Deputies at the meeting of the “Servant of the People” faction supported Kravchenko’s candidacy for the post of Attorney General. Kravchenko’s appointment was also approved by the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Law Enforcement.
- On the same day, the Council agreed to Zelensky for the appointment of Kravchenko by the Prosecutor General.
