During his New Year’s speech, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi said that Ukraine will continue to fight for its citizens who are in the occupied territories.
“We will fight for all those whom Russia forced into occupation, but could not conquer their Ukrainian hearts. No matter how much evil hands out passports under machine guns, our people say: “You don’t belong here, you are temporary.” And all that introduced weed will not be able to take root on our land and defeat the indigenous inhabitants,” he said.
He recalled the story about the Ukrainian grandfather. When the occupiers asked him: “What time is it?”, he replied: “It’s time to get off our land.”

“This is an example of an indomitable will that cannot be occupied,” the president said.
“I appeal to all who preserve this will in the temporarily occupied territories. Dear Ukrainians! I know that you meet the New Year in our time and hear these words. In our Crimea, in Donbas, in Melitopol, in Mariupol – everywhere, where Ukraine is waiting. And Ukraine will definitely return there, so that we can be together again. The only thing that will separate us is a generously laid table,” Zelensky added.
The president also noted that there will be a place at this table for those “who are currently abroad, but have kept Ukraine in their hearts.”
