Such data are given in the American study of the Metric and Health Assessment (IHME), published In The Lanace Scientific Journal.
In 1950 the average life expectancy women In Ukraine it was 69.2 years. In the following decades, it gradually increased and in 1990 Ukrainians lived on average for 75 years.
However, in 2000, life expectancy decreased by 73.8. Then again the growth began to the level of the 1990s-in 2010, women lived on average 75.2 years.
In 2023, the life expectancy of Ukrainian women reached 78.5 years. In total, over seven decades have increased by 9.3 years.
Ukrainian Men live less. In 1950, their average life expectancy did not exceed 63 years. In the 1990s there was an increase to 65.7. And over the next ten years there was a “rollback” to 62.6 years.
Then life expectancy began to grow again-in 2010 it reached 65.4 years.
In 2023, men in Ukraine lived on average 66.6 years. Over seven decades, the figure has only increased by 3.6 years.
For comparison, the average life expectancy in the world in these years was:
- in 1950: women-51.2 years, men-47.9;
- in 1990: women-67.3 years, men-62.2;
- in 2000: women-69.7 years, men-64.5;
- in 2010: women-73.7 years, men-68.4;
- In 2023: women-76.3 years, men-71.5.
Thus, as of 2023, the Ukrainians lived a little more than 2 years longer than the world average, and Ukrainians – almost 5 years less.
The study showed that the average life expectancy in the world Returned to the level that was before the Covid-19 pandemic. The most common cause of deaths is cardiovascular disease.
