Details: The senator expressed concern that Trump is pushing Ukraine to quickly sign a peace agreement without security guarantees.

“I am deeply concerned that he (Trump. – Ed.) seems to be leaving Ukraine to fend for itself. He is forcing her to make territorial concessions that are unfair and unreasonable, and depriving her of the military aid she needs to protect herself from Putin’s massacre,” Blumenthal said.
Commenting on the peace talks, he noted that they appear to be “completely one-sided in the way that Trump’s emissaries have conducted them,” due to the fact that a number of conditions are being put forward for Ukraine, while no concessions are foreseen for Russia.
“They (Witkoff and Kushner. – Ed.) seem to be biased towards Ukraine. I think Trump needs new envoys – Witkoff and Kushner seem to be on the side of Russia instead of being impartial or objective negotiators. And the whole ‘peace plan’ needs to be thrown out. They need to go back to square one,” Blumenthal said.
The senator also commented on Trump’s statement about the need to hold elections in Ukraine.
“It seems that Trump is appeasing Putin. And the election is just another step in what he is trying to do to Putin. Putin does not hold elections. Zelensky does not need either,” said Blumenthal.
