“Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia and former President Dmitry Medvedev published a “scarecrow” about nuclear war in connection with the fact that on February 5 the Russian-American nuclear arms control treaty (NPT-3) expires.”, — write: www.pravda.com.ua

Details: Medvedev could not refrain from boasting about the absence of any inhibitions for Russia on the nuclear issue. “That’s it. For the first time since 1972, Russia (former USSR) and the USA do not have a treaty limiting strategic nuclear forces. SALT 1, SALT 2, START I, START II, SORT, New START – all this is in the past,” Medvedev wrote, listing past agreements between the USA and the Russian Federation on nuclear deterrence.

Medvedev added a screenshot from the TV series “Game of Thrones”. In the picture, the character of the series The King of the Night, the leader of the army of the living dead, hints that “Winter is near.” Obviously, this should symbolize the “nuclear winter” with which Moscow is trying to scare the world.
On February 4, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia stated that after the suspension of the SNO-3 treaty, the Russian Federation no longer considers itself bound by limitations on its nuclear arsenal.
The SNO-3 (or New START) treaty is the last major agreement between the United States and Russia on the mutual reduction and limitation of strategic offensive weapons. It was signed in 2010 in Prague by Presidents Obama and Medvedev, entered into force in 2011 and was supposed to become the foundation of “nuclear stability” in the world.
The day before, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that Russia is ready for the new reality of a world without restrictions on nuclear weapons.
