Details: The journalist asked Levitt to comment on the Republicans’ statement in the Senate on the withdrawal of the Law on Sanctions against Russia. According to her, it happened after Trump stated that he wanted to act unilaterally.

“The president communicates very closely with his friends in the Senate, especially with Senator Lindsey Graham, about this issue. But the president has always argued that he is the commander -in -chief and president not just so, and he was deeply involved in this conflict from the beginning,” the white house spokesman said.

So Levitt stressed that any decision on Trump’s sanctions wants to leave behind.

It should be noted that the New York Times wrote that the threat of Trump to punish Russia, if it did not reach a truce with Ukraine for 50 days, stopped a two-party initiative in the Senate to introduce rigid new sanctions against countries that are doing business with Moscow.

The bill, co -authored by Senators Linda Graham and Richard Blumental, supported 83 senators. It provides for a minimum of 500% for imports from Russia or from any country that buys Russian uranium or petroleum products.

However, as the publication noted, after initially stated that the bill could be brought to the vote this month, the leaders of the Republicans retreated to allow Trump to take unilateral measures.

“I think the President has decided to act unilaterally in this matter,” said Senator John Tun, adding that Trump “understands that it is necessary to make the Russians sit at the negotiating table.”

Graham, in turn, stated that Trump “accepted the concept we promoted.”

And the bluumel, despite the fact that he has approved Trump’s promise to aim sanctions on the Russian economy, he noted that the bill would be a more effective tool for this.

“Our bill is better because it is not just a hammer, but a sledgehammer, which is stronger and sends a signal about unity. That is why we will continue to press,” he said.

It should be noted that after Trump has given Russia a 50-day period, Latvia Baiba Minister Baiba said that US President should not wait 50 days to impose secondary sanctions against Russia.

In Lithuania, the United States was called for a devastating sanction blow to Russia and those who support it after the EU has approved a long-suffering 18th package of sanctions against the Russian Federation.
