The ongoing war and a full -scale invasion of Russia in February 2022 caused large -scale migration processes. Millions of Ukrainians have lost their homes and moved abroad. However, regardless of their place of stay, they have the right to defense and the necessary support, including the legal.

In Ukraine, the system of providing free legal aid (BPD) operates. This is a state -guaranteed opportunity to obtain legal support for free. It includes both primary assistance – providing legal information, consultations, assistance in drafting, and secondary – protection, representation of interests in court, drafting procedural documents, etc. The system covers more than 400 legal aid bureaus across the country, and provides services online and at 0 800 213 103 (free calls).
Ukrainians abroad can use such support remotely. Although personal visits to the bureau outside Ukraine are impossible, the mechanism of receiving online assistance is well organized, simple and effective.
So how can you get free legal aid abroad? If you need legal advice, you can seek help remotely in a convenient format for you – orally or in writing. To communicate with a lawyer, it is worth consumption of +38 (044) 363 10 41 (the cost of calling from abroad at the tariffs of your communication operator) or call using the Telegram mobile application: https://t.me/+38067721213103. Lawyers work on lines from Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 18:00 Kiev time.
If it is more convenient for a person to receive a service in writing, you can ask a private message on Telegram. This format of communication allows you to send photos of the client documents to the lawyer to analyze them and provide the necessary explanation, or if the topic of consultation is difficult and contains many details. To get legal advice in writing, write in Telegram Bot: https://t.me/legalaidukrainebot (lawyers answer on working days).
What are the most common questions with Ukrainians and how does it work on examples? Among the most common issues with Ukrainians are – the registration or exchange of the Ukrainian or foreign passport, the receipt of the RKOPP, the issues of military accounting and stories, the recovery of alimony, registration of birth of the child, divorce at a distance through electronic court, inheritance, use of power of attorney, retirement, withdrawal, withdrawal. proceedings from abroad and submission of applications to public authorities, etc.
For example, a client who is outside Ukraine, asked about the passports of children she ordered at home. The passports were ready, but the father who came to pick them up was refused. Lawyers explained that only the applicant can receive the documents-in this case, but she has the right to issue a power of attorney for his father even from abroad. The woman was given detailed instructions on how to do it remotely. Otherwise, a Ukrainian from the Nikolaev area, who now lives in Poland, addressed two questions immediately: how to register the birth of a son in Ukraine and whether it is possible to issue financial assistance at birth without returning home. It has received a comprehensive list of documents and step -by -step instructions on how to design everything online.
Another Kharkiv woman asked how to file a petition in court without personal presence. She is in Poland with a child and is not able to come to Ukraine. The lawyer explained that there are two options: electronic filing using the CEP or through the Electronic Court system and described in detail each of them. In all cases, people have received clear explanations and ready -made solutions that allowed them to act confidently even at a distance.
At the same time, there are situations where consultations are not enough … In some cases, the consultation of a lawyer is only a beginning, and the solution of the problem requires assistance with the court, that is, secondary legal aid. The BPD system in 2023 developed and implemented a mechanism for applying for secondary legal assistance online using electronic digital signature. How to draw and send such an appeal, see step -by -step instructions.
In addition, you can analyze the right legal information yourself, and ready legal advice can be viewed on the WikiLegaid legal and information platform.
All services of the BPD system, as well as detailed instructions are located on the resource: https://legaid.gov.ua/kliyentam/yak-otrymaty-bpd/.
A common goal for all is a fair, democratic and legal society, where the rule of law is an immutable principle, and access to legal assistance is a reality for everyone. And we make every effort to achieve this goal. Every day, the BPD system is working to ensure that everyone can get support when it is most needed and not only in Ukraine but also far beyond its borders.
