During the Powerlifting Cup of Ukraine, he performed a bench press with barbells weighing 212.5 kilograms and 215 kilograms. Both results were officially recorded as records.
Father Makariy dedicated the first record to Metropolitan Andrei Sheptytskyi. This year is the 160th anniversary of his birth.
The second record is for defenders of Ukraine. The priest urged people to donate to the army instead of greetings.
“When he was under the barbell, he said in prayer: “Lord Andrei, help me!” And the barbell was quite easily given. All attempts – 205 kilograms, 212.5 kilograms and 215 kilograms – were successful and counted by all the judges.
Unfortunately, the third record – 218.5 kilograms – did not yield. But everything is ahead.” Makariy Dutka noted.
LOVA added that the hieromonk has repeatedly represented the Lviv region at all-Ukrainian competitions and actively helps the army. This time his goal is to purchase a domed EW for the SBU.
We will remind you that Andriy Kovalenko is a cyber policeman from the Kyiv region broke the world record from powerlifting in a special category. In the deadlift, he overcame a weight of more than 240 kg.
