On January 24, the Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov, commenting on the situation with defense procurement, stated that he decided to dismiss “all who failed work” in this area. In particular, a request was filed for the release of his deputy Klimenkov, who held the position of October 2023.
Umerov also stated that the Defense Ministry would not continue a contract with the director of the Defense Procurement Agency Marina Bezruk and withdraw two representatives of the state from the AOP Supervisory Board.
According to Umerov, the restart of the Supervisory Board will take place in the near future, and ASO will be appointed director Arsen Zhumadilov, who heads the “state operator”. Zhumadov himself confirmed that he agreed to become the new director of the defense agency.
On January 27, Radio Svoboda said that the contracting of ammunition and supply through the defense procurement agency could be blocked due to a legal conflict that arose in connection with the decision of the Minister of Defense through the Defense Columnic.
Umerov’s statements appeared after the Supervisory Board of the Defense Procurement Agency of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine entered into a contract with the current director of the agency Marina Bezruk for 1 year.
