Vilnius has extended free travel for Ukrainians for another year

In the capital of Lithuania, Vilnius, Ukrainian refugees will be able to travel for free in public transport until 2026. This is reported by LRT, transmits UNN.

Details

It is noted that this decision was unanimously approved by the Metropolitan City Council on Wednesday, November 27.

As LRT writes, war refugees from Ukraine can use public transport free of charge from March 2022. Such a decision was made by the authorities of the capital after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, when tens of thousands of Ukrainians arrived in Lithuania. Similar decisions were made by other big cities of Lithuania.

The Lithuanian government allocated almost 9 million euros to help Ukrainian refugees. The funds will be used for child benefits, social assistance for schoolchildren, partial coverage of heating, water and housing costs.
