Viber Survey: More than half of Ukrainians buy new smartphones every 4-5 years

55% of Ukrainians buy new smartphones every four to five years, and a quarter of the respondents (27%) do not buy them themselves and usually receive devices as a gift. This is stated in a new Viber survey, where about 40,000 people took part.

To the question “How often do you buy a new phone?” The answers were distributed as follows:

• Every 4-5 years-55%;
• I do not buy the phones myself/-a (usually give)-27%;
• Every 2-4 years-17%;
• I update with the release of the new model-every 1-1.5 years-1%.

At the same time, the Ukrainians told what other gadgets, except the phone, used. 33% of respondents most often use a laptop, another 15% with a computer. But a third has only a smartphone.

The answers to the question “In addition to the phone, what is the most common gadget?” have been distributed as follows:

• Laptop – 33%;
• I only use the phone, there are no other gadgets – 29%;
• Computer – 15%;
• Tablet – 14%;
• Smart hour – 5%;
• Other – 3%.

Earlier, Viber conducted other surveys, such as that almost 40% of Ukrainians use smartphones from 4 to 6 hours a day. Last year, the Rakuten team also asked Ukrainians about the most popular phone brands – the winner was Samsung.
