The higher anti-corruption court sentenced former MP Dmytro Kryuchkov to 15 years in prison with the confiscation of all his property in the case of his organization of the seizure of the funds of the companies “Cherkasioblenergo” and “Zaporizhjiaoblenergo”.

Details: It is reported that Kryuchkov went abroad at the beginning of last year and did not return. The reason for leaving was that he has five children.
Before that, he left for a few days and returned, but on February 15 he left for abroad and did not return. He participated in court sessions via video link and reported that he has the right to permanent residence in Monaco.
The judges also found guilty of Kryuchkov’s accomplice, Svitlana Kuzminska, the former acting head of the board of PJSC “Cherkasioblenergo”. She was sentenced to 8 years in prison with confiscation of half of her property.
In addition to the deprivation of liberty, the court satisfied the civil claims in the case and applied special confiscation:
- UAH 468 million will be collected from “Energomerezh” and from Kryuchkov;
- Kryuchkov must pay more than UAH 27 million in favor of Odesa CHP JSC;
- Kryuchkov must pay more than UAH 21 million to “Zaporizhjiaoblenergo”;
- UAH 14 million should be paid jointly by Kryuchkov and Kuzminska in favor of “Cherkasioblenergo”.
415,000 was also collected from the accused. UAH court costs. Judges Evgeny Kruk, Oleksiy Kravchuk and Inna Bilous passed the sentence.

- Previously, “Ukrainian Pravda” wrote in its investigation about the “Energomerezh” company, which bought debts from “Centrenergo” and Odesa CHP through related creditor companies. Dmytro Kryuchkov, who is unofficially associated by market participants with the vice-president of UEFA, Grigory Surkis, whose representatives were part of the management bodies of the Energomerezh company, is the head of the board of Energomerezh PJSC.
- According to the indictment, in 2014-2015, officials of a private company seized funds that were supposed to go to PJSC “Cherkasioblenergo” and PJSC “Zaporizhjiaoblenergo”. The essence of the scheme was reduced to the fact that electricity consumers paid money not directly to Oblenergo, but also to the intermediary company “Energomerezh”, controlled by Kryuchkov.
- Total losses to energy supply companies amount to over 1.5 billion hryvnias, of which over 315 million hryvnias were compensated during the pre-trial investigation. Also, VAKS is considering another case in which Kryuchkov is an accused. It refers to the uncollected revenues of PJSC “Zaporizhjiaoblenergo” and SE “Energorynok” amounting to over UAH 346 million.
- In November 2018, prosecutors of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office made public the suspicion against Kryuchkov.
