People’s deputy from the “Servant of the People” faction Andriy Odarchenko, accused of trying to bribe the leadership of the Ministry of Reconstruction, fled to Romania and asked for asylum there. This became known during the VAX meeting.

“According to the information available in the pre-trial investigation authorities…, Odarchenko crossed the state border outside the checkpoint with Romania and after that he even applied to the state authorities of Romania with an application for asylum in this state,” the prosecutor said during the meeting.

According to her, on September 19, Odarchenko’s “unofficial” driver told that “two days before that date, the people’s deputy asked to drop him off in the central part of the city, gave the driver his mobile phones and asked him to charge them. Odarchenko also said that he himself will get to the Verkhovna Rada and back.”

Since that time, the driver has not seen the elected official and did not know how to contact him, says the prosecutor. It is reported that the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada did not issue a business trip for Odarchenko to travel abroad.

It is known that in connection with the deputy’s escape, the prosecutor of the SAP submitted a request for bail.

In addition, the Higher Anti-Corruption Court (HCC) arrested in absentia the People’s Deputy from the “Servant of the People” Andrii Odarchenko, who is accused of bribing a top official, and collected UAH 15 million of the bail paid for him.

As can be seen from the live broadcast from the courtroom, the judge also changed the deputy’s preventive measure from bail to custody.

In November 2023, the National Anti-corruption Bureau of Ukraine announced the exposure of a people’s deputy for an attempt to bribe a top official with bitcoins. It was about the representative of “Servant of the People” Andriy Odarchenko.

During one of the court hearings, Odarchenko denied that he had given a bribe to the head of the State Agency for Reconstruction and Development of Infrastructure, Mustafa Nayem. He admitted contacts with Nayem, but said that he allegedly asked to teach him how to use cryptocurrency. In addition, the deputy stated that the case against him may be evidence of “political or some other persecution.”

The court chose People’s Deputy Andrii Odarchenko a preventive measure in the form of detention for a period of two months with the possibility of a bail of 15 million hryvnias. He made a deposit.
