US warned not to use Huawei Shi-Chips and cancel Biden’s export restrictions

The US Ministry of Commerce has released a statement that the use of chips for ascend artificial intelligence from Chinese Huawei “anywhere in the world” violates government export control. New instructions aim to weaken China’s technological development, Bloomberg reports.

The Bureau of Industry and Security, which is a member of the Ministry of Commerce, said it also plans to warn the public about potential consequences if American Shi chips are used to train and launch Chinese language models.

New instructions of the Ministry of Commerce may further complicate the implementation of Huawei ambitions on the development of powerful chips for AI and smartphones. The Chinese company has already faced considerable difficulties in this direction through sanctions from the United States.

The Bureau also released new instructions and at the same time announced the intention to review the restrictions on Joe Biden’s administration for the export of semiconductors used in the development of AI. These restrictions have previously caused a sharp criticism from both US Allies and companies like Nvidia and Oracle.

The Ministry of Commerce claims that the export rules introduced by Biden “would undermine US diplomatic relations with dozens of countries, reducing their status to minor. In the future, the Ministry will publish another message that formalizes the abolition of the rules.”

Sources aware of the situation report that the Trump administration is developing its approach and, in particular, considers the negotiations on individual agreements with individual countries.

The Ministry also emphasizes that regardless of the results of the abolition of the rules, it will be “a bold, inclusive strategy for American artificial intelligence technology with trusted foreign countries around the world, and technology will not fall into the hands of our opponents.”

Within the export rules introduced by Biden, the world was divided into three levels. The first included seventeen countries and Taiwan – they could receive an unlimited number of chips. About 120 other countries are in the second level, which limits their number of artificial intelligence chips. Third level countries that are most concerned, such as China, Russia, Iran and North Korea, have no access to chips.
