Referring to anonymous sources, NYT notes that the White House and Committee of the United States House of Representatives in China addressed the Apple management to the questions about what the data will be transmitted to Alibaba and whether the company has an obligation to Chinese regulators. However, according to information, most of these questions are unanswered.
In a statement, a representative of the House of Representatives Raja Krishnamurty, a senior Democrat in the Permanent Intelligence Committee, described Alibaba as a “striking example of the Chinese Communist Party’s military-civilian strategy” and expressed “serious concern” due to the lack of Apple transparency.
Currently, the agreement has been officially confirmed only by Alibaba, while Apple has not yet made public comments.
