A few weeks ago, during a separate test, there was another incident with another drone produced by Blacksea Technologies, which was towed with a boat. The crashes described were due to software failures and human errors, including problems with the link between the on -board drones and external software. Thus, the Pentagon sea drones program is towing.
It is noted that the US military leadership became interested in marine drones against the background of the effectiveness of such drones during the war in Ukraine. They repeatedly stated that they needed autonomous groups of air and sea drones to prevent China’s potential advance through the Taiwanese Strait. At the same time, Taiwan himself has already begun to develop his own sea drones.
Meanwhile, the US wants to create not just analogues of Ukrainian sea dronesand make a little more. If the Ukrainian UAVs, according to the agency, can carry weapons, explosives and surveillance equipment, perform the function of Kamikadze, mainly drive away and cost about $ 250,000, then the US versions are planning to make it completely autonomous.
They must move flocks and without human command, while the price of one such drone will be several million dollars.
However, testing shows that US marine drones are not yet able to perform tasks that are capable of Ukrainian, not talking about something more difficult.
In this case, the problems of the Navy go beyond the simple provision of boats. In a unit that deals with marine drones, they released management, and the unnamed high -ranking Pentagon official expressed concern about this program during discussions with the Navy management last month.
This is not the first US problem with drones. Earlier in the US The FPV-Dron interceptor protested, but it was worse than Ukrainian decisions.
