On March 20, the US Federal Judge blocked access to the Department of Government Efficiency (Doge), headed by Ilon Musk, to the SSA administration (SSA).

The US District Court Judge Ellen Lipton Hollander of Maryland stated that the social security administration probably violated privacy laws by giving Doge “unlimited access to personal and private data from millions of Americans.”

“Doge team is essentially fishing in SSA in search of a fraud epidemic, based only on suspicion. She started searching for a notorious needle in a haystack without having any specific information that the needle was in the haystack, ”Hollander said.

The White House has not yet commented on the court’s decision.

The Government Efficiency (Doge) sought access to the US Social Security Administration (SSA) to identify possible fraud and inefficiency cases in the social payments system. Musk argued that millions of persons could receive social payments illegally.

However, critics say that such actions may violate privacy laws and risk millions of Americans. They also indicate that Doge access to confidential information can be used for other purposes not related to fraud.

Earlier, US resident Donald Trump has promised to reduce government expenditures and instructed Doge to carry out this task.
