Today, in mobilization, it is important to know that certain eye diseases can be a basis for release from military service. The new provisions of the legislation determine specific cases where persons may be unsuitable for service due to serious vision problems.
NV has learned what diseases make it possible to avoid mobilization and how this process is carried out.
Eye diseases that release mobilization
Unfit for military service with military accounting are persons who have:
- expressed anatomical defects of the eyelids, orbits, conjunctiva with significant impaired visual or motor function of both eyes;
- Severe diseases of all departments of the eye and its appendages in both eyes with frequent exacerbations or progressive decrease in visual functions (scars, opacities, degenerative changes, cataracts, optic diseases, etc.);
- detachment and rupture of the retina of any etiology in both eyes;
- severe form of glaucoma of both eyes;
- persistent paralysis of the motor muscles of the eyeball in the presence of diplopia;
- myopia or farsightedness of any eye in one of the meridians greater than 12.0 d;
- blindness of one or both eyes;
- the absence of one or both eyeballs.
This is regulated by the Order of the Ministry of Defense No. 262 of April 27, 2024. The diagnosis of the military is at the military medical commission.

Eye diseases that do not release from mobilization
It should be noted that people with a diagnosis are quite suitable for military service the following signs:
- slightly noticeable anatomical changes or defects in the position of the eyelids, orbits or conjunctiva with moderate or mild eye damage;
- eyelids, lacrimal ducts, orbits or conjunctivitis in one or both eyes, which does not affect the visual or motor function of the eye;
- Increasing intraocular pressure in one or both eyes.
- The myopia or farsightedness of one eye on any meridian exceeds 3.0 D, a maximum of 6.0 d.
- Any type of astigmatism, in which the difference in refractive error in two main meridians exceeds 2.0 D, a maximum of 3.0 d.
