After that, the Ukrainian will face trial in Germany, the report says.
Serhiy Kuznetsov spent most of his previous imprisonment in a prison in northern Italy, where he was detained. He repeatedly tried to prevent his extradition, including by going on hunger strike.
Prehistory:
- On November 19, the Supreme Court of Italy rejected Kuznetsov’s appeal against the decision of the lower court, confirming his extradition to Germany.
- German prosecutors accuse Kuznetsov of belonging to a group of people who installed devices on pipelines near the Danish island of Bornholm in the Baltic Sea.
- He was charged with conspiracy to cause an explosion, anti-constitutional sabotage and destruction of important objects. Kuznetsov himself denies any involvement in sabotage of Russian gas pipelines.
- According to The Wall Street Journal, German investigators believe that the group of Ukrainians who allegedly blew up “Nordic Streams” acted under the leadership of the then Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Valery Zaluzhny.
