Defense Minister of Ukraine Rustem Umyerov said on Thursday, January 9, that the next meeting of Ramshtein may take place in February. He said this after the meeting, RFE/RL reports.
According to Umerov, Ukraine wants the United States “remained and strengthened their presence” during subsequent Ramstein meetings.
“We have already mentioned that we are holding the next Rammstein in February… The formats are different, as you know, we created NSATU [формат під егідою НАТО]there are several European countries that want to lead it, or co-lead it, because it is being done together with Ukraine. That’s why I don’t see any problems at the moment because we have already agreed on the next Rammstein,” Umyerov said.

At the same time, US Defense Minister Lloyd Austin said that the decision to hold the next meeting will be made by the new administration of the White House headed by US President-elect Donald Trump.
“The future administration must make its own decisions. We want to make sure we do everything we can to ensure that support continues,” Austin said.
On January 9, the 25th meeting of the Contact Group on Defense of Ukraine in the Rammstein format took place in Germany. During the meeting, the participants approved eight road maps of the coalitions, which define the key goals of the Defense Forces of Ukraine until 2027.
On the day of Ramstein, the United States announced the allocation of a $500 million military aid package to Ukraine, which will be the last from the Joe Biden administration.
In November 2024, Umerov emphasized the importance of continuing the work of the Rammstein format for Ukraine and expressed hope for continued support under the administration of Donald Trump.
