Ukrzaliznytsia has updated data on changes in train traffic due to floods in Central Europe

In connection with the floods in the countries of Central Europe, a number of flights to Ukraine will undergo changes, Ukrzaliznytsia reported on September 16.

According to the report, as of Monday morning:

  • flight “Vienna – Kyiv – Vienna” operates as “Budapest – Kyiv – Budapest”;
  • the “Chop-Vienna” flight with Hungarian “Intercity” class wagons is also limited to Budapest;
  • flights “Prague – Przemyśl – Prague” will be sent from the original stations according to the schedule, and the flooded border section between Granice na Moravi and Rybnik will be covered by buses;
  • flight “Prague – Chop” makes a detour and will arrive in Chop +2 hours before the schedule, will depart from Chop according to the schedule.

“All trains between Ukraine and Warsaw, Chelm, Przemyśl, Košice, Budapest, and Zahony are running without changes,” the UZ noted.

Officials in Romania said at least six people had died and two others were missing. In Romania, about 20 municipalities in eight Romanian counties were seriously affected by the flood. Thousands of houses were damaged, tens of thousands of people were injured or evacuated.

In Poland, one person was officially reported dead, and in the Czech Republic, four people are considered missing, in Austria, a firefighter died during a rescue operation. In Austria, dozens of municipalities have declared natural disaster zones.

Forecasters reported that on September 15, some areas could receive more than a third of the average annual rainfall, and strong winds made the situation difficult.
