Ukrzaliznytsia has announced a temporary adjustment to its Intercity train services connecting Kyiv and Kharkiv. Trains will now operate only up to Poltava, with passengers required to transfer to connecting routes to reach Kharkiv.
The company stated that due to recent energy supply constraints, trains between Kharkiv and Poltava had been running with backup locomotives, resulting in delays of up to three hours. On some occasions, arrivals occurred after the start of the curfew.
To enhance passenger convenience and ensure more timely arrivals, the train schedules have been revised, and connecting routes have been introduced. Ukrzaliznytsia is currently engaged in restoration work and has implemented heightened security measures to facilitate the full resumption of Intercity services.
Officials anticipate that full Intercity operations to Kharkiv will resume by the end of March. They also noted that other train routes operated by Ukrzaliznytsia to and from Kharkiv remain unchanged.
Russian forces have been consistently targeting Ukrzaliznytsia’s infrastructure, including strikes on passenger trains.
Ukrzaliznytsia has modified its Intercity train services between Kyiv and Kharkiv due to energy supply issues and security concerns. Passengers will now need to transfer at Poltava, with hopes of resuming full services by the end of March.
