Ukrenergo, Ukraine’s national energy company, has announced that power restrictions will be implemented for industrial consumers on April 13, from 4 PM to midnight. This measure will affect all regions of Ukraine as the country continues to grapple with the impacts of recent military actions.
The company has urged residential consumers to limit the use of high-power electrical appliances during the evening hours to help manage the energy load. The restrictions are attributed to the ongoing consequences of previous Russian missile and drone attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
Since the onset of the full-scale invasion in February 2022, Russian forces have targeted Ukraine’s energy facilities. Attacks intensified in the autumn of 2025, creating a significant gap between energy generation capabilities and consumption needs, leading to prolonged power outages across various regions. However, with the arrival of spring and increased output from solar power plants, some of these restrictions had been eased.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated on March 24 that Russian forces continue their operations aimed at undermining Ukraine’s energy system. The Security Service of Ukraine has classified these attacks as crimes against humanity, reporting at least 256 aerial assaults on energy and heating facilities since the beginning of the current heating season.
In February 2026, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov claimed that Russia had not initiated attacks on civilian targets, asserting instead that Ukraine had begun striking its energy facilities.
Ukrenergo has announced power restrictions for industrial users across Ukraine due to the impact of Russian military actions on the energy infrastructure. Residential consumers are also advised to limit high-power appliance use during peak hours.
