From now on, Ukrainians can protect themselves from spam calls. The government has approved a resolution that allows operators to block numbers that send unwanted advertising calls. The new rules came into force on October 2, and thousands of spam-numbers have already been blocked, Ministry reports.

Spam calls are calls of advertising nature without prior consent of the user when companies try to sell goods or services. Now every user can contact their operator and help block the following numbers:

  • Vodafone – through an application or at 111/0 800 400 111 in Ukraine, +38 050 400 111 in roaming;
  • “Kyivstar” – through an application or at 466 /0 800 300 466 in Ukraine, 105466# in roaming;
  • Lifecell – through an application or at 5433 /0 800 20 5433 in Ukraine, +38 063 5433 111 in roaming.

The operator will check the number to which the complaint is received and will block if it meets at least two criteria:

  • calls without communication;
  • the average duration of calls in 7 days – less than 60 seconds;
  • more than 50% of calls – to different numbers;
  • It is impossible to call back;
  • The recorded message is played during the call;
  • complaints from subscribers;
  • Number of incoming calls that do not end with a conversation to the number – less than 5% of the incoming and output calls of this number
  • number for calls only for SMS or Internet.

You can also complain about spam because of Government hotline 1545 or leave the application on the site National Commission on Electronic Communications Regulation.
