Ukrainian troops improved the tactical position near Pokrovsk, and Russian – intensified offensive actions in the east of Donetsk region and in Kharkiv region.
This is stated in the new report of the Institute of War Study (Isw).
According to analysts, Ukrainian units have recently advanced in Kottle and Lucky Donetsk region. The report states that there were counterattacks of defense forces in the area.
ISW notes that geolocation, published on April 4, confirm the slight promotion of Russian troops in Shevchenko Donetsk region – south of Pokrovsk. The recent offensive actions of the army of the Russian Federation in Kupyansk direction of Kharkiv region are also reported, although specific settlements are not specified.
At the same time, the Russian Defense Ministry was announced on April 4 of the capture (To the southwest of Pokrovsk), and Russian troops argued that the units of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation advanced in Eastern Fox of Donetsk region. Other sources from the Russian Federation also declared an attack west of the Transfiguration of Donetsk region in the direction of Troitsky Donetsk region, from the south – near Bogdanivka of Donetsk region, as well as from the Zaporozhye direction – all these points are located southwest of Pokrovsk.
The report states that on April 3 and 4, the Russian forces attacked northeast of the Pokrovsk Donetsk region near Tarasivka, to the east – near Elizabeth, Vodyany, Alexandropol, to the southeast – near Sukhoi Yar and Novokalin, as well as to the southwest – in the areas Uspenivka, Zavovoy, Novo Aleksandrivka, Novoandriivka and Kotlyarivka.
In the Toretsky direction, ISW confirms the promotion of Russian forces along Southwest of the Donetsk region in the southwest of the city. Russian sources reported on April 4 about the seizure of Alexandropol Donetsk region, although analysts believe that it happened on April 2.
Attacks were also recorded near the Toretsk himself, to the north – near Dachny, Friendship, Dylivka, to the northeast – near the Crimean and west – near Leonidivka and Romanivka.
The Ukrainian military analyst Konstantin Mashovets believes that the redeployment of Russian troops in the Toretsky direction aims to replace the exhausted and inefficient units of the 51st OMBR, and not to promote the offensive on Konstantinovka.
ISW analysts note that Russian troops in this direction are mainly resorted to in small assault groups, avoiding open clashes and trying to bypass Ukrainian positions.
It is argued that the situation on the front remains tense with the high activity of both sides on the key areas.
Situation in the Pokrovska area – what is known
