On March 10, Ukrainian defense forces launched Storm Shadow missile strikes against the “Kremniy El” microelectronics plant in Bryansk, Russia. This action was confirmed by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The “Kremniy El” facility plays a crucial role in the production chain of Russia’s precision weaponry. It specializes in discrete semiconductor technology and integrated circuits, which serve as the “brains” and “nervous system” for modern weaponry, including the Iskander missile systems.
Reports indicate that the strikes successfully hit the target, resulting in significant damage to the plant’s production capabilities. The extent of the damage is currently being assessed.
Aerial reconnaissance for the operation was conducted by a unit from the separate drone regiment “Reid” of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Prior to this operation, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi, had briefed him on the successful execution of the mission. “The Bryansk plant was hit. This facility produced control systems for all types of Russian missiles. I commend our Armed Forces for their efforts,” Zelensky stated.
