Ukrainian Forces Halt Russian Assault in Zaporizhzhia Region

On March 28, Ukrainian defense forces successfully thwarted a mechanized assault by the Russian army aimed at the village of Mala Tokmachka in the Zaporizhzhia region. Reports from the Southern Defense Forces of Ukraine confirmed the operation on March 29.

According to the military, Russian troops attempted to exploit foggy weather conditions to advance stealthily into the area using a tank, armored personnel carriers, and two Ulan vehicles. However, they were unable to approach the village, which Russian propaganda channels falsely claimed to have been under their control since the summer of 2025.

“Instead, the assault troops never got close to the village,” the report stated.

The Ukrainian 118th Separate Motorized Brigade, along with units from the 108th Kodatska Territorial Defense Brigade, halted the Russian column before it could reach its target. The engagement resulted in the destruction of several armored vehicles and the elimination of ten assault troops, with an additional ten sustaining injuries.

On the same day, Ukrainian forces reported repelling 33 attacks from Russian military units in the Huliaipole direction and ten more in the Orikhiv sector of the front.
