Ukrainian drones hit targets at a distance of 2,000 kilometers – the commander of the GUR

The Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine uses about 20 different long-range drones to destroy targets at a distance of up to 2,000 kilometers. The commander of the group of long-range UAV operators of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine told RFE/RL about this project.

Journalists of the project recently witnessed the launch of “Lyuty” drones, which took place in the dark.

The HUR fighters said that their work has changed a lot since they started performing such operations.

“We are the group that was the first to launch almost all long-range drones. We started with something small, now we are hitting targets of 2000 km – it is an extraordinary change. Adapting is not difficult. In principle, all drones are quite simple. Our staff undergoes regular training. The producers come to our meeting, they conduct it quite actively and quickly,” Donbas said. The reality of the group commander.

A few hours after the flight of the drones, which was filmed by journalists, footage of a fire in the area of ​​the Saratov Refinery in Russia – more than six hundred kilometers from the Ukrainian border – appeared online.

Subsequently, the Ukrainian General Staff confirmed the successful destruction of an oil depot in the Kaluga region of Russia on the night of November 25.

According to the General Staff, on the night of November 25, units of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense together with other components of the Defense Forces attacked a number of important objects of the Russian Armed Forces, in particular in the Bryansk, Kaluga and Kursk regions of Russia – there is confirmation of the successful destruction of an oil base in the Kaluga region, the results of the work for other objects are being clarified.

In November, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that in the next year Ukraine will produce at least 30,000 long-range drones at Ukrainian technological facilities.

During the Russian-Ukrainian full-scale war, the role of drones increased significantly. On the front line for the Armed Forces, they partially compensate for the superiority of the Russian forces in artillery. Also, they have become indispensable for distant, hundreds of kilometers, strikes on military facilities on the territory of Russia.
