Ukrainian drone units have successfully struck the Transneft oil terminal in Primorsk, Leningrad Oblast, as well as the Lukoil oil refinery in Kstovo, Russia. This operation marks a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia.
According to Robert Brovdi, the commander of Ukraine’s drone forces, the attacks involved multiple specialized units. The operation was carried out by the Birds of Prey 1st Operational Command, along with pilots from the 9th Battalion ‘Kairos’ of the 414th Brigade and the 413th Operational Group ‘Raid.’
The targeting of these facilities highlights the strategic focus of Ukrainian forces on disrupting Russian energy infrastructure, which is crucial for the country’s economy. Such operations are intended not only to diminish Russia’s operational capabilities but also to send a message regarding Ukraine’s resilience and tactical innovation.
