Ukrainian Authorities Arrest Woman for Alleged Terror Plot Linked to Russian Intelligence

Ukrainian security forces have apprehended a woman accused of planning to detonate an explosive device at a military recruitment and social support center in Sloviansk. The suspect, a resident of Mykolaivka in the Kramatorsk district, was reportedly recruited by Russian intelligence operatives in October 2025.

According to the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), the woman was tasked with placing a homemade explosive device in a trash container near the entrance of the facility. The plan involved remote detonation during peak hours to maximize casualties.

At the time of her arrest, the suspect was reportedly on her way to retrieve the explosive, which had been delivered via drone by Russian agents. Authorities seized a bomb weighing approximately 2 kilograms in TNT equivalent, equipped with metal components to enhance its lethality, along with a mobile phone intended for remote activation.

Investigations revealed that the woman had been providing Russian handlers with intelligence about the movement of Ukrainian military equipment and the locations of defense positions and checkpoints. She also offered her residence as a potential base for Russian sabotage groups.

The SBU has charged her under Article 111, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for treason committed in a time of war. Authorities are also considering additional charges related to her preparation for a terrorist act. A court has ordered her to be held in custody without the option of bail, facing a possible life sentence with asset confiscation.

This incident follows a series of explosions at military recruitment centers across Ukraine, including a recent blast in Rivne that resulted in one death and several injuries. Additional explosions have occurred in Pavlohrad and Kamianets-Podilskyi, raising concerns about security at these facilities.

Ukrainian authorities have arrested a woman for allegedly planning a bomb attack on a military recruitment center, linked to Russian intelligence. This incident highlights ongoing security threats amid the conflict.
