In the early hours of April 5, Ukrainian air defense systems engaged in a significant operation against an assault involving 93 drones, predominantly Iranian-made Shahed models. Reports indicate that approximately 76 of these drones were either shot down or suppressed by Ukrainian forces.
The attacks were reported across various regions, including the north, south, and east of Ukraine. Military sources confirmed that 17 strike drones impacted 10 different locations, with debris falling in three areas.
As of the morning, several enemy drones remained active within the Ukrainian airspace, prompting ongoing vigilance from defense forces.
Additionally, on the same night, Russian occupation forces targeted the city of Odesa, resulting in fires and substantial damage to infrastructure. Notably, the facade of a residential building was destroyed, necessitating the evacuation of 20 residents, with reports of injuries among the local population.
Ukrainian air defense successfully intercepted a majority of drones during a recent attack, while Russian strikes on Odesa caused significant damage and injuries. The situation remains tense as several drones continue to operate in the region.
