Ukrainian Air Force Logistics Commander Detained Amid Corruption Allegations

The commander of logistics for the Ukrainian Air Force, Andriy Ukrayintsy, has been ordered to remain in custody for two months or pay a substantial bail. This decision was reported by a correspondent from Suspilne.

The court’s ruling mandates that Ukrayintsy be held until April 25, with an alternative option for bail set at 7 million hryvnias. Should he post bail, he must adhere to several conditions.

  • Appear at the request of the judge or investigator;
  • Remain within the Zhytomyr region;
  • Surrender his passport;
  • Avoid contact with Volodymyr Kompanichenko.

Details surrounding the case emerged following the February 25 arrest of Volodymyr Kompanichenko, head of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) in the Zhytomyr region, who was apprehended for accepting bribes. Ukrayintsy was also taken into custody during the operation.

The SBU revealed that its internal security division, with assistance from the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, uncovered a scheme involving officials misappropriating defense funds. Investigators allege that these individuals orchestrated a plan to embezzle state money during the construction of fortifications, which included enhancing security measures at strategically significant sites like operational airfields for defense forces.

The detention of Andriy Ukrayintsy, the logistics commander of the Ukrainian Air Force, follows serious corruption allegations linked to defense spending. His case highlights ongoing efforts to combat financial misconduct within Ukraine's military infrastructure.
