The meeting in the Ramstein format will be devoted to the development of strategies to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities until 2027. This includes prioritizing things like air defense, artillery, and long-range weapons. People’s Deputy of Ukraine Yehor Chernev, deputy chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence, said this on the air of the telethon, reports UNN.

Details

Ramstein will be dedicated to the development of roadmaps for Ukraine’s defense capability strategy until 2027, so that we do not close needs from today to today, but have a plan on how to strengthen our defense capabilities in the conditions in which we are now – in the conditions of the hot phase of the war, and which should be our army of the future. In principle, our Ministry of Defense did its homework last year

The Ministry of Defense has developed the so-called Future Force, documents on the defense strategy for the development of our defense capability.

Chernev noted that the same strategies that were developed earlier will be implemented now. According to him, the “Rammstein” format is working today, and it is being carried out with the Biden administration. He expressed hope that this format will be preserved even after the arrival of the Trump administration. However, in the event of changes, Ukraine insured itself by providing further assistance through the developed platform and laying down 40 billion dollars for the next few years within the framework of NATO’s work, which will provide guaranteed support even in the event of changes to the “Ramstein” format.

“But as of today, I still don’t see any signs that Rammstein will cease to exist,” Chernev added.

Priorities of Ukraine

“Our priorities have not changed, we still put emphasis on strengthening our air defense, increasing the number of shells provided to us, and long-range weapons, which show themselves quite effectively, taking out enemy warehouses in their rear, command posts and logistics chains. That is, all our priorities remain the same – air defense, artillery, long-range weapons,” said Chernev.

Questions regarding the strategic strengthening of the army until 2027

Chernev noted that there is a saying that generals prepare for past wars, and Ukraine needs to prepare for future ones. He noted that it is very difficult to predict what will happen even in a year or two, given how quickly the nature of warfare is changing, particularly with the impact of drones. Accordingly, it is the task not only of the Ukrainian army, but also of the General Staff and allies to bet on the development of new technologies. Among the main directions, in his opinion, is the missile program, as well as land, air and sea drones that will be developed. However, artillery remains important as it still plays a crucial role on the battlefield.

Regarding the numerous coalitions, of which there are already 8 or 9, Chernev noted that some of them work more effectively than others. He emphasized that the effectiveness of coalitions depends on the capabilities of the countries included in them, noting, in particular, the important role of Germany in the tank coalition and in the supply of air defense.

Earlier

The United States and its allies, which are part of the Contact Group on Defense of Ukraine in the Rammstein format, have already allocated more than $126 billion in security assistance to Ukraine.
