Ukraine will host a marathon to fill Wikipedia with articles in the Crimean Tatar language

In Ukraine, from January 12 to 27, 2025, a marathon will be held to complete the online encyclopedia “Wikipedia”, dedicated to the 17th anniversary of the foundation of the Crimean Tatar version of the resource.

The marathon is designed to improve the quality of the materials published on the website and increase their number. This was announced by the representation of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, reports Ukrinform.

“On the occasion of the 17th anniversary of the foundation of the Crimean Tatar Wikipedia, from January 12 to 27, 2025, a marathon will be held to fill in the online encyclopedia, organized by the Representative Office and NGO “Wikimedia Ukraine”, – the message reads.

It is noted that the Crimean Tatar Wikipedia is the only online encyclopedia in the Crimean Tatar language, which makes it an extremely important tool for popularizing the history, culture and language of the Crimean Tatar people.

Wikipedia in the Crimean Tatar language has almost 30,000 articles. This applies to articles on both science and technology, as well as on the history, culture and traditions of the Crimean Tatar people.
