Ukraine sent 500 tons of wheat flour to Syria within the framework of our humanitarian program “Grain from Ukraine” in cooperation with the UN World Food Program, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on December 27 on the Kh.

“As promised, we are supporting the Syrian people in their time of need… It is planned that 33,250 families, or 167,000 people, will receive flour in the coming weeks. Each package weighs 15 kilograms and can feed a family of five for a month,” the post states.

On December 13, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that Ukraine is ready to provide grain to Syria as part of humanitarian aid.

In November, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi said that 20 million people were saved from starvation during the “Grain from Ukraine” initiative. According to the Minister of Agrarian Policy, despite the war, Ukraine supplies products for 400 million people in the world.

At the beginning of December, the regime of Bashar Assad was overthrown in Syria, and the power passed to the forces of the rebels, led by the Islamist organization Hayat Tahrir al-Sham. Assad and his family, who ruled Syria as a dynasty for more than 50 years, were forced to flee to Russia.
