Ukraine Reports Increased Drone and Missile Attacks by Russia

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has reported a significant escalation in Russian military activity over the past week, with over 2,800 drone strikes, nearly 1,350 guided aerial bombs, and more than 40 missiles launched against Ukraine.

In a statement on Telegram on April 6, Zelensky detailed that approximately 140 drones were deployed against Ukrainian villages and communities in a single night, with around 80 identified as Shahed drones.

“Last night, Russian forces targeted Odesa with strike drones. Residential buildings and a kindergarten were damaged, along with a local electrical substation. Thousands of families are now without power. Repair crews have been working since the night to restore electricity. Unfortunately, three people have been reported killed in this attack, including a two-year-old child. My heartfelt condolences go out to their families and loved ones,” Zelensky wrote.

The president also noted that strikes on energy infrastructure have been recorded in the Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, and Dnipro regions.

“It is crucial for all partners to enhance air defense together so that the percentage of intercepted drones and missiles continues to rise. This is a daily effort for everyone, not just Ukraine. Through supplies and support, our partners are also helping themselves. Russia has no intention of stopping. I thank everyone who understands this and invests in our collective defense,” Zelensky added.

The situation continues to develop as Ukraine seeks to bolster its defenses against ongoing attacks.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has reported a marked increase in Russian drone and missile attacks, emphasizing the need for enhanced air defense cooperation among allies. The recent strikes have resulted in civilian casualties and significant damage to infrastructure.
