Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that a team of specialists is heading to the Persian Gulf region to assist in drone defense efforts, aimed at protecting lives and stabilizing the area.
During an evening address, Zelensky emphasized the challenges posed by Iranian attacks, which have escalated tensions in the region. He pointed out that the Iranian regime has effectively blocked the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for global oil and gas supplies, leading to significant destabilization. He stressed the urgency of implementing effective life-saving measures and maintaining stability, urging nations seeking support from Ukraine to continue their assistance in air defense.
Zelensky revealed that Ukraine had proposed a drone agreement to the United States last year, highlighting the importance of collaboration in drone production and deployment. He stated, “This is the right perspective — to be with us in the production and application of drones. Everyone sees that there are no alternatives to this perspective. Ukraine possesses the world’s largest experience in countering strike drones, and without our expertise, it will be challenging for partners in Europe and America to establish a robust defense in the region. We are ready to assist those who help us.”
Furthermore, Zelensky indicated that a Ukrainian delegation is preparing security cooperation agreements. He mentioned that Rustem Umerov, alongside military, intelligence, and foreign affairs officials, will be working on specific arrangements. “Ukraine is a reliable donor of security; this is not only about our safety but also our economic prospects. Defense for Ukraine, cooperation with partners, and development for Ukrainian industries are all interconnected. Everything we have learned for our defense can serve as a global foundation for security,” he added.
