In the early hours of March 10, Ukraine faced a significant drone assault from Russia, involving 97 strike drones of various types, including Shahed, Gerbera, and Italmas. Ukrainian Air Force officials reported that their defense systems successfully neutralized 90 of these drones during the engagement.
The attack originated from multiple locations, including Bryansk, Oryol, Kursk, and Milleryovo in Russia, as well as from the Crimean Peninsula. According to the Ukrainian military, approximately 70 of the drones were identified as Shahed models.
By 8:00 AM, Ukrainian forces, which included aviation units, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare divisions, and drone systems, had either shot down or suppressed the majority of the incoming threats. However, five drones managed to strike five different locations, with debris reported to have fallen in two areas.
“The attack continues, and several enemy drones remain in the airspace. Please adhere to safety protocols,” the Air Force stated.
This incident underscores the ongoing military tensions between Ukraine and Russia, as drone warfare has become a critical aspect of the conflict.
