Ditiorations – our homes that explode and burn. And somewhere far beyond the scenes, in cozy offices, respectable international figures are inspired by monologues about “deep concern” and “terrible concern”. Drones probably cry from shame and turn back from such words – but no, that does not happen. The enemies of human civilization do not permeate diplomatic poetry, and the world leaders seem to have learned to do something more than concerned statements. Not surprisingly, every new statement causes only a sarcastic smile in Ukrainians: if the notes were beaten by rockets, the war would have been over.
Diplomacy against dictatorship: Hitler won not negotiation International leaders are now reminiscent of firefighters who are arguing about the names of fire extinguishers while the house is burning. Hitler at one time won not diplomacy – he was stopped by weapons, determination and, unfortunately, with great blood. But nowadays, when the newest aggressor methodically destroys Ukrainian cities, some of the “strong world of this” still naively looking for a toothless compromise. There are calls for “giving Putin to keep his face” – perhaps the same face he has long lost with the remnants of adequacy.

The world forums and sums turned into theater circles: they gathered, talked, praised each other for restraint – and left, shaking their hands. And real decisions are postponed “for the next meeting”. If during the Second World War, the Allies were so drawn to the opening of the Second Front, Churchill would probably have gone before. On the contrary, everyone is afraid to “provoke” the aggressor with a solid reaction. So we have a global treatment of homeopathy aggression: diluted sanctions, diluted rhetoric and no “shock therapy”.
Does history teach nothing? The policy of peace was once ended with the Munich conspiracy and the largest war of the XX century. It seems that now some of the heirs of the Chamberlain are again trying this approach – however, it is now called “deep concern.” But the trouble is that while they write another diplomatic novel, Ukrainians write covenants for howls. And if it was not for the help of “Stand for Another Moon” from our allies, who still provide weapons (after months of hesitation and debate, of course), this absurdity would have long been turned into a planetary scale tragedy. Although… Doesn’t it turn?
The world on the threshold of the abyss: signs of approximation of the apocalypse Maybe we dramatize? Let’s look at the facts. World rhetoric about “Peace around the world” now sounds in beauty contests. Instead, everyone is talking about increasing armies and defense budgets. Here are some alarming “bells” that the world flies into the abyss:
- Record military expenses: Global defense costs have broken a historic record – $ 2.44 trillion in 2023, $ 2.72 trillion in 2024 and, apparently, will be even more in 2025. This is the biggest jump in the Cold War. British scientists warn that such unprecedented arms honor is a reaction to a deterioration in world security and can start a spiral escalation. States prioritize tanks and rockets, risking getting a dominoic conflict effect: one is growing weapons – the other too, and so in a circle closer to a global explosion.
- The dream of a dream of peace: the UN once dreamed of general disarmament and “peace around the world.” Today, these phrases are almost taboo in serious politics. Instead, the rhetoric of strength and benefits. Each country cares first and foremost about its own well -being: Europe counts pensions and voters’ opinions, America is election points and the number of missiles after Baiden, China has its own influence. About “peace for all” they say except on Christmas cards. Perhaps the concept “Peace on Earth” Already sent to retirement as outdated and ineffective.
- New normality – war: increasing weapons costs has become a measure of government adequacy. Whoever puts more in rockets is good. In 2024, for the first time, military budgets grew in all regions of the planet immediately-from Europe to Asia. This is as if all the neighbors at the same time lit up the houses and everyone ran to buy gasoline, not water. In short, the atmosphere is such that the Nobel Peace Prize will soon be awarded to the one who will last a year without a new war.
The world goes crazy gradually: instead of combining climate crises or epidemics, humanity, states are preparing to fight each other. And so far no one offers anything better. According to one expert, states are now at risk of thrust into a classic safety trap – when readiness for war does not bring security everywhere.
Power in Ukrainian: Country as private property It would seem that against the background of such geopolitical hell, the Ukrainian authorities should become a model of unity, transparency and responsibility. No, the leaders behave as if Ukraine is their private farm, and the people are stupid serfs that do not understand anything. At a time when ordinary Ukrainians give the latter on the Armed Forces, some in high offices prefer old good “schemes”.
A recent example is the situation with Vice Prime Minister Alexey Chernyshov. The person is suspected of fraud with the ground for billions of hryvnias, he was given a suspicion of corruption of a particularly large size, the court set a pledge of 120 million UAH. It would seem that the honor of the uniform and the basic ethics dictate the authority for the duration of the investigation. But no – Chernyshov quietly remained in office by decision of WACS (Supreme Anti -Corruption Court), even at international meetings, apparently, will go further. The higher rank of Ukraine, actually suspected of corruption, continues to head the Ministry and represent the entire nation at international congresses. This is the first time in our history, such a high -ranking official remains in power during the charges? It is difficult to remember. Even anti -corruption activists are shocked: they say that the court’s decision is unclear and gives Chernyshov the opportunity to influence the investigation. But we seem to “do not give their own”, especially if “their” close to the presidential environment.
For contrast: In Sweden in 2016, Minister Aida Gadzialich resigned when she was caught at the wheel with alcohol 0.2% – this is exactly on the verge of legal, but she said: “I go because I consider my act to be serious enough”. Imagine? The man drank an extra glass of wine – and he went out of office, so as not to disgrace the government. And we have? The Deputy Head of Government is suspected of stealing – “it is another, he is underwear.” European approach VS Our double standard reserve.
But it’s not just one Chernyshiv. System The opaque and the lust of profit blossomed even during a historically important war. Recently, 126 MPs (almost all – from the pro -government party) decided to approve the scandalous bill No. 13423. This document actually proposes amnesty for crimes in defense procurement: if the fraud occurred during the execution of a defense contract – everything is not considered a crime. Moreover, a special list of “approximate” suppliers for the Ministry of Defense will form the Defense Ministry, and this list will be classified. Do you guess what smells? That’s right: paying a “entrance ticket” – and you can sell the armies at least the nails at the price of Jewellins. The Anti -Corruption Center explicitly stated that this bill legalizes corruption in the defendant for the selected suppliers. Instead, NABU and SAP are removed from investigations in the defense sphere – now only the Prosecutor General will decide who to punish and whom to forgive. In fact, a “sacred caste” of businessmen with weapons, inviolable, like elite cows in the Indian Temple of Corruption is created. And this is during the war, when every hryvnia is on the account! Looking at such initiatives, you inadvertently think: do not behave by the powerful as if the country is their private shop, where the box office is for their own?
Epilogue: Don’t be surprised what will happen next … So, we have a grotesque picture. On the one hand, there is a world that is in the abyss, armed with the teeth and avoiding the words “peace” as obscene. On the other hand, Ukraine is reflected not only from external enemies, but also forced to spend strength (money, people, attention) on the enemy inside – corruption. All this is seasoned with international inaction and local cynicism. And the most horrifying thing is that what is happening now is just the beginning of what can capture the whole world if the trends do not change. We live in an unusual horror, the prologue of which is written on Ukrainian soil. The rest of the world may think he is sitting in the audience hall. But if the fire is not extinguished here and now, tomorrow the flame will jump to everyone.
In the meantime, our leadership and international partners continue to play their games as if a wagon. Someone expands the “gray zones” for enrichment, someone feeds the aggressor with diplomatic candies. And everyone seems to spit. So do not be surprised when the reality finally makes an account. He will be scary. In this absurd theater, we no longer know who is crazy – the world or we are. But one thing is clear: if humanity does not wake up, the final curtain will fall earlier than we would like. And there will be no applause.
