Ukraine has announced a ceasefire effective from 4 PM on April 11 until midnight on April 12, coinciding with Easter celebrations. This decision was communicated by the 7th Rapid Reaction Corps of the Ukrainian Air Assault Forces via social media.
The corps, which operates in the Donetsk region, emphasized the need to monitor the situation closely. They expressed concern that the ceasefire could be exploited by opposing forces to reposition troops or carry out infiltration activities. In the event of any violations, Ukrainian defense forces are prepared to respond decisively.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine also confirmed that the ceasefire will be enforced across land, sea, and air, as directed by President Volodymyr Zelensky. They reiterated a commitment to maintaining peace during the holiday while warning that any provocations or offensive actions would be met with a proportional response.
In their statement, the General Staff made it clear that Ukrainian troops would engage if they faced threats, especially from missile launches or drone attacks originating from Russian forces. This approach aims to ensure that the ceasefire is respected while remaining vigilant against potential escalations.
Ukraine has instituted a temporary ceasefire for Easter, with strict monitoring to prevent misuse by opposing forces. The military is prepared to respond to any violations, maintaining a balance between peace and readiness for conflict.
