In a recent update, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that Russia launched nearly 1,550 attack drones and over 1,260 guided aerial bombs against Ukraine in the past week. Additionally, two missiles were fired during this period.
Zelensky highlighted a troubling trend, noting that Russia has ramped up its crude oil sales due to a relaxation of sanctions. This increase in revenue is perceived as providing Russia with a sense of impunity, allowing it to sustain its military operations.
He emphasized the importance of maintaining pressure on Russia, insisting that sanctions must remain effective. Zelensky stated, “The shadow fleet of Russia should not feel secure in European waters or elsewhere. Tankers contributing to the war budget must be stopped and blocked, rather than simply allowed to operate. I thank every leader making the necessary decisions, as this brings us closer to a just peace.”
President Zelensky's remarks underscore the ongoing military aggression from Russia, marked by a significant increase in drone and bomb attacks on Ukraine. Concurrently, the easing of sanctions has enabled Russia to boost its oil sales, raising concerns about the implications for the conflict.
