According to the department, the decision to access Ukraine was unanimously supported by the heads of national associations of reserve officers of the North Atlantic Alliance. At present, only Ukraine, Switzerland and Austria have the status of associate members of Cior among NATO partners.
“This is a historical step that was to take place 23 years ago. Accession to CIOR opens new opportunities for Ukraine, first of all – in the development of reserve forces and deepening cooperation with NATO,” said Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Brigade General of Justice Sergey Melnyk, who He headed the Ukrainian delegation in Brussels.
Melnyk also emphasized the readiness of Ukraine not only to adopt the best practices of the Allies, but also to share his own unique experience in the preparation of reservists and the organization of defense.
Cior President Colonel Jorn Buo congratulated Ukraine on the acquisition of associate membership. He noted the importance of sharing knowledge and skills between NATO reservists and partner states.
