The interlocutors of the publication said that the decision is now behind Zelensky. They both expressed anxiety that the US-Ukrainian crisis can deepen if it rejects the proposal. The American official called it a decisive moment for Ukrainians.
Zelensky rejected the US initial proposal represented by Finance Minister Scott Bessent in Kiev, which would give the United States 50% of all income from production. Zelensky was concerned about some of the provisions of the Agreement, as well as that it did not provide for any security guarantees for Ukraine.
Earlier this week, the US side returned with an “improved” proposal, and now made additional changes. The exact conditions of the current American proposal are not known.
The Trump administration sent Ukraine to the latest version of the Nedra Agreement on Thursday night, the American official who participates in the negotiations, as well as a source with direct access to information, said.
The American official said the changed version of the agreement is aimed at “correcting the situation” between the US and Ukraine. According to the official, Trump has authorized a member of the US government – not a conscious – to make a new proposal.
US specialist Kel Kellogg, who continues to stay in Kiev, wrote on Friday on the social network X (Twitter) that he had a “long and busy day with the highest leadership of Ukraine”, describing “wide and positive discussions” with Zelensky. He called Zelensky “an avid and courageous leader of the nation in a state of war.”
The words used by Kellogo are strikingly different from the characteristics of Trump, who called Zelensky a “dictator without elections.”
