Ukraine and Russia Prepare for Upcoming Prisoner Exchange, Says Zelensky

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has indicated that a new exchange of prisoners between Ukraine and Russia is anticipated to occur soon. His remarks followed a meeting with the negotiating team after discussions held in Switzerland.

Zelensky emphasized the importance of the Ukrainian delegation not only in facilitating prisoner exchanges but also in advancing humanitarian issues. He stated, “Prisoner exchanges must continue. We expect that an exchange will be possible in the near future.”

On February 5, Ukraine successfully repatriated 157 individuals from Russian captivity, which included both military personnel and civilians. In a reciprocal move, an equal number of individuals were sent to Russia.

President Zelensky has announced the expectation of a forthcoming prisoner exchange between Ukraine and Russia, highlighting the role of humanitarian negotiations. Recent exchanges have seen significant numbers of individuals returned to their respective countries.
