A 35-year-old tennis player reported on her Instagram.
“Growing in Fulnek in my hometown and hitting the first tennis balls with my father on local courts, I never imagined that I would be able to travel the world and play in the world’s most beautiful stadiums in the world.
Over the past 19 years, since I have become a professional tennis player, I have been honored to reach incredible heights. From the victory on two Wimbleds, six Trofes of the Billy Cup Gin King for the Czech Republic, to the second place in the world ranking and much more. I have achieved more than I could imagine, and I am very grateful to everything that tennis has given me over the years. He taught me countless lessons not only at the court or in the gym, but also in life. I would never be the one who I am today, without this beautiful sport and everything he gave me both at the court and outside.
As with all stages of life, comes the day when the time is coming for a new section, and this time has come now. So I wanted to share with you that 2025 is my last season in the tour as a professional. I am excited and looking forward to the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the game on Wimbledon, a place that keeps the most valuable memories in my career. And although I am not quite sure what my blow on Hardovy Court in the United States will look like, I intend to complete my active game career at US Open in New York later this summer.
Although such a solution is never easy, it is a happy moment for me! I will leave sports with the widest smile on my face – the same smile you saw from me at and outside my career. For all these years, I am incredibly grateful for the adamant support of my family, my closest friends, my team and all the incredible fans who have always supported me around the world. I could not ask or want anything more – tennis gave me everything I have today and I will be eternally grateful to this beautiful sport I love.
With love, Peter, “Kvitova wrote.
